Nintendo 3DS “Has A Long Life In Front Of It”; Switch & 3DS Will “Coexist” Says Nintendo President

Nintendo Of America’s president and COO Reggie Fils-Aime was recently interviewed by Wired and in the interview he answered a very question regarding the future of the Nintendo 3DS with the impending release of the Nintendo Switch. This has been a question for many Nintendo fans, with many thinking that it could be the end of the 3DS due to the portability of the Nintendo Switch.
That doesn’t seem to be the case at all, as Reggie made is clear that “there are a number of big games coming. And in our view, the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch are going to live side-by-side.” he then continued to discuss about whether the Nintendo 3DS and the Nintendo Switch could coexist, “they’re going to coexist just fine. We’ve done this before, managing two different systems.”
There’s the argument that the Nintendo Switch is a portable console and is much different from when the Wii U and 3DS was the two main consoles. On the subject of the Switch being called a portable console, Reggie said “I think there’s a sense that Nintendo Switch is a portable device. It is portable. But at its heart, it’s a home console that you can take with you on the go.”
What do you think? Can the Switch and 3DS “coexist as Reggie says or will the Nintendo 3DS become obsolete due to the portability of the Nintendo Switch? Let us know in the comment section below.
